چکیده

Background: Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is peripheral entrapment neuropathy in which compression of the median nerve at wrist occurs. Objective: To evaluate and study, ultrasound nerve-conduction predicting outcome after open surgical release carpel syndrome. Patients Methods: This prospective observational include 30 patients from out-patient Neurology orthopedic clinics Al Azhar Assuit University Hospitals. The duration study ranged 6-12 months. Results: Ultrasound findings were significantly decreased postoperatively. As regard ROC curve syndrome, regarding Cross-sectional area inlet, its sensitivity was 40%, specificity 82%, AUC 0.615 cutoff point ≤ 13.5. Regarding outlet, 32%, 86%, 0.523 14. Maximal cross-sectional along tunnel, 34%, 78%, 0.586 16. DML; 87.1%, 89.7%, 0.813 4.9. Conclusion: Ultrasonography a good sensitive tool diagnosis CTS as compared to clinical examination electrophysiological findings. Open carpal effective improving clinical, functional parameters Most satisfied with results OCTR.

Dominance in hands and cross-sectional area of median nerve in carpal tunnel syndrome

Introduction: Currently, neuroresearchers report that the median nerve shows severity-correlated intracarpal enlargement in idiopathic carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) as a most common peripheral neuropathic disorder. The purpose of this paper was to investigate ultrasonography morphological findings in patients with idiopathic CTS and comparing some physical properties such as age, gender, BMI wit...

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and Median Nerve Lesions

Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is by far the most common cause of median nerve damage. The carpal tunnel is an anatomical compartment of the hand; it is bounded on three sides by carpal bones which form an arch, and on the palmar side by the transverse carpal ligament. Pathogenesis CTS results from compromise of median nerve function at the wrist, caused by increased pressure in the carpal tunnel...

Diagnostic value of Phalen's test and Nerve Conduction Velocity in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Introduction: Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a prevalent disorder in women 30 to 60 years old, which is due to compression of median nerve in hand wrist tunnel. As this syndrome is prevalent, diagnostic power of clinical tests are undefined and electrodiagnostic tests are not accessible widely. This study was conducted to determine the diagnostic power of Phalen's test in comparison with NCV. ...
